Thanks to the Inlet and Indian Lake Highway Departments the Moose River Plains Road is generally smooth and solid. The shoulders are soft throughout, as usual for this time of year. If the weather forecast holds the road should stiffen up a bit before race day and be relatively fast.

From Arrowhead Park:

• Between the Limekiln gate and Red River there is a single down arrow on a sharp hazardous curve.
• Between Red River and Big T there is another single down arrow on another sharp hazardous curve.
• About mile 17 there is an uphill that is rocky and somewhat gravelly.
• At mile 17.7 there is a tree leaning over the road that may come down.
• At mile 23 there is part of a culvert collar and a bolt sticking up in the middle of the road. It has been painted and marked with a single down arrow. This could puncture a tire or bend a (skinny) rim. This is yet another reminder of how the State did things (wrong) when they maintained the roads.
• From the Cedar River gate the road is smooth with soft shoulders all the way to the pavement at just over 29 miles.
• Route 28/30 is being repaved and the Eastbound shoulder is new and smooth.
• Even though we tried to bribe them DOT will not remove that bump-out just before the finish line.  🙁
