New for BFC 2014
The BFC race committee has made improvements and added some cool new things for 2014, including:
- A new and improved Active.com interface that allows you to create and join teams, edit your registration (switch categories, etc.) and transfer your registration.
- Jersey & Tee Design Contest. Submit your designs and they could appear on the BFC 2014 Jersey and Tee! Details to follow.
- Video & Photo contest. Submit your best BFC photos and videos and we’ll use them to promote the race – and give you full credit of course. Details to follow.
- Sunday BFC Mountain Bike Rodeo & Races. Favorites from the old Adirondack Mountain Bike Festival are back! Rodeo events, kids races, hill climb, circuit race. Check them out here.

Registration for the 19th Annual Black Fly Challenge is now open at Active.com!

Cool: For the second year in a row Janis and Josef Hansen, of Liverpool, NY, are the first to register for the BFC. They registered within minutes of our email going out!
Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Ride, Saturday October 12
Pedals and Petals will join Trek dealers across the nation to host the 6th annual Trek Womens Breast Cancer Awareness Ride on Saturday, October 12. Everyone is welcome to participate in either a family friendly group ride offering an 11.6 mile loop or a 20.8 mile loop. We will be leaving from Pedals & Petals at 10AM and riding down the scenic South Shore Road. There will be raffles, giveaways, food and beverages!
MOUNTAIN BIKE ACTION ALERT!

BFC part of plot in new Adirondack Kids book
The Black Fly Challenge is central to the plot of the newest book in the Adirondack Kids series, “The Carousel Case, the Bicycle Race and the Blackfly Bad Guy.”
This is the thirteenth book in the successful series from father-son writing team of Gary and Justin VanRiper. Read a sneak peak from chapter one, check out their schedule of book-signing appearances and buy the book for your future BFC racers at the Adirondack Kids website.

The Adirondack Mountain Bike Association, producer of the Black Fly Challenge, would like to express great appreciation to the towns of Indian Lake and Inlet for once again doing a great job on the Moose River Plains road and also to the Hamilton County Sheriff, NYS Police, NYS DEC, Indian Lake and Inlet ambulance squads and to the many, many volunteers that make the Black Fly Challenge possible.
