2016 Central Adirondack Outdoor Guide
Produced in conjunction with the Black Fly Challenge, the Central Adirondack Outdoor Guide offers a sampling of the attractions, events and activities found in the mountain towns that surround the wild and scenic Moose River Recreation Area: Inlet, Raquette Lake, Blue Mountain Lake, Indian Lake and Sabael.
In addition to maps, trail descriptions and outdoor info, the Outdoor Guide is filled with ads for local shops, services, dining, lodging and camping. Please support theses cycling-friendly sponsors of the BFC!

BFC Loses A Very Special Friend
BFC 2016 will be dedicated to the memory of long-time BFC veteran Jason Dellilo, of Baldwinsville, who passed away unexpectedly on February 19, 2016, at 42 years old.
Jason was born in Syracuse and graduated from P.V. Moore High School in Central Square. In the Marine Corps he served as a rifleman in the infantry division, earning several medals for outstanding performance.
He loved the outdoors, golfing, snowmobiling, the NY Giants and cycling. Jason was a competitive cyclist for over 20 years racing for Bike Loft East and more recently for the US Military.
He often said that if he could do only one race a year it would be the Black Fly Challenge. He was the BFC’s most frequent competitor, always a gentleman and a true friend of the race.
We will miss you Jason ~ the Black Fly Challenge won’t be the same without you!

New for BFC 2016
It has been a year of many changes for the BFC! Most changes dealt with race production but a couple are of interest to the racers:
1) The BFC will be capped at 1,000 entries; and
2) We have a new timing & scoring company.
As some are aware, we have ended our long-term affiliation with YellowJacket Racing. Results will now be produced by Mid-Atlantic Timing out of Philadelphia.
Mid-Atlantic has a sterling reputation and a long history of producing accurate results for bike race using using a double-chip timing method.
The reasons for the race cap are simple – logistics and safety. BFC organizers set the cap to address the concerns of the DEC, DOT, State Police, Hamilton County Sheriff and Hamilton County Emergency Management.
We’ll detail this issue further in a future post.
