The 20th Annual Black Fly Challenge starts in Indian Lake, Saturday June 13, 2015.
Any great event needs four key ingredients.
For the Black Fly Challenge that means:
The BFC organizers wish to a huge ‘thank you’ to all our sponsors, volunteers and racers.
YOU are the reason the Black Fly is a great event!
A ‘Thank You’ event for BFC 2014 volunteers & sponsors will take place tonight, 6p.m. at Marty’s Chili Nights in Indian Lake. Join us for light fare and a margarita! (or two)

Despite having rain for three days straight before the race the Limekiln-Cedar River Road was solid enough for a new course record! Alec Donahue shaved 1:15 off the old record, finishing in 1:46:22.
We all owe the Inlet and Indian Lake Highway crews thanks for making the road better every year. And thanks to all the volunteers, sponsors and racers for yet another record-setting year!
UPDATE: Final total from YellowJacket is 796 entries, up 218 from last year!

As of Wednesday the Limekiln-Cedar River Road was still solid in the driving lanes and a little soft on the sides. The only area where the road itself was a bit soft was a 1/2-mile stretch along the Moose River Plains, from the Otter Brook intersection heading East.
Despite this week’s rains the course should be solid overall. The newer road surfaces in the East half of the Moose River Recreation Area drain exceptionally well and will be hard and fast.
The rain is supposed to stop around midnight but there will definitely be some puddles in the Plains tomorrow… We’ve had rain for three days straight! It might be muddy but nothing like 2011’s epic slog!
The Indian Lake and Inlet highway departments have done a great job of maintaining the roads and we owe them a HUGE thanks!
Both shuttles are sold out. If anyone wants or needs to swap or sell shuttle spots go to the Black Fly Buzz forum and communicate directly with each other there.
The Limekiln-Cedar River Road is in very good condition. The driving lanes are solid and the sides are a bit soft – typical for this time of year.
If we don’t get too much preceipitation before race day it could be very fast – again!
