The Adirondack Mountain Bike Association, producer of the Black Fly Challenge, would like to express great appreciation to the towns of Indian Lake and Inlet for once again doing a great job on the Moose River Plains road and also to the Hamilton County Sheriff, NYS Police, NYS DEC, Indian Lake and Inlet ambulance squads and to the many, many volunteers that make the Black Fly Challenge possible.

Anyone registered after the May 25 tee-shirt deadline may be in luck because we ordered a lot of shirts – hopefully enough for everyone.
Entrants that register after the cutoff date are not guaranteed a shirt but most usually get one.

Training Ride Course Report
A couple of BFC racers rode the course today from Indian Lake to Inlet for a training ride and report that the Moose River Plains are in great shape: solid, smooth and fast.
The Fern Mountain singletrack trails are also in very good condition. If the weather holds we could see some fast finishing times.
Preliminary Race Course Report
Records for fastest BFC finishing time will always belong to Indian Lake. Inlet times are slower because of the Fern Mountain single-track.
Any BFC veteran knows that. They also know that while the Indian Lake finishes are faster, the Inlet finishes are wilder.
Unlike the soggy conditions of 2011, this year BFC racers will find the Moose River Plains to be (mostly) solid and the 3/4-mile Fern Mountain trails to be typical singletrack – until they get near the finish line.
The finish line approach will follow a path similar to that of two years ago but because of construction in Fern Park it will travel over a freshly graded stretch that will be steep, fast and loose with a slightly longer (and flat) sprint to the finish line.
NOTE: the finish line approach will not be ready to pre-ride until Friday June 7 and there will still be construction workers in the area.
Afternoon Shuttle Full
The Afternoon Shuttle is full and closed. We had to reserve the shuttle busses two weeks out, so like T-shirts, you snooze, you lose!
2013 Central Adirondack Outdoor Guide
The Adirondack Mountain Bike Association is proud to introduce the new Central Adirondack Outdoor Guide.
Produced in conjunction with the Black Fly Challenge, the Guide offers a sampling of the attractions, events and activties found in the mountain towns that surround the wild and scenic Moose River Recreation Area: Inlet, Raquette Lake, Blue Mountain Lake, Indian Lake and Sabael.
In addition to maps, trail descriptions and outdoor info, the Guide is filled with ads for local shops, services, dining, lodging and camping. Please support theses cycling-friendly sponsors of the BFC!
